Mine that Bird wins Kentucky Derby

Have you ever had a time in your life when the odds were against you? Ever have someone or everyone bet against you? That describes “Mine that Bird” coming into the World Famous Kentucky Derby. At an odds of 50 to 1, the World was stunned when the pony won the race. I am sure that the jockey, the owners, and definitely sports books all over the World had no idea that this pony would come from behind and win. This grabs me as a dream come true! So it totally brings to mind of the New ponies in the Summer 2009 line up. Therefore it is quite fitting that it’s Dream Horse As you sit it on your mantle at home let your wildest dreams come true!

Ever win the big race and then know that the target is on your back? This weekend, that pony is racing for $1 million dollars at the Belmont Stakes. As I think of that coming day for Mine that Bird and its owners the new pony Thunder Horse really grabs my heart. Knowing that Mine that Bird is going to come into that race like a rolling Thunder, with power!

This weekend watch the race and dream BIG! Its all about power on the track and the ability to dream again!

Until next time, keep on dreaming!

On The Right Track: Helio wins 3rd straight victory at Indy 500

Several new cars from come out in the Speed Freak line up.  As I think about the race track … the Indy comes to mind.

With Helio Castroneves down in the dumps, he thought about his true love — being in a race car.  Like Helio, racing is an addiction.  There is one car in the line up that screams of Helio:  Track Ad Vantage .  Helio definitely had the track advantage!

Helio Castroneves took his third career Indy  500 pole Saturday. He’s now one of eight drivers to win that pole at least three times.  Among those 8 drivers are the likes of Rick Mears,  Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt!  In honor of the big win and a nice rub in the face to the other drivers it would definitely be the new car R S Arrrrrgh cause that is what the other guys were doing! LOL.

“Many times during the trial I was thinking about it,” he said. “I knew what I loved [is] racing, but I realized even more that’s my life. And just to be here is a dream come true and I appreciate that every day when I wake up in the morning.”

Helio and so many race car drivers no and understand that racing is their life.  They can’t imagine anything else taking it place.  Racing has become very popular but its always been a real man’s sport.  When I think of real men sports I think of the past.  So what better car to speak of the past then the NEW Forty three Gee Tee It’s a real blast from the past!

“I enjoy life. Now I enjoy it even more. But I have to say that what I learned from the trial, probably my mind is much stronger and my skin is a little bit thicker now.”

Helio is a real inspiration to people from all walks of life. He wins in a major trial in April and comes back to win the Indy just less than a month later. That’s someone with passion and real discipline.

“This place is magic,” said Helio, a two-time Indy winner. “It’s just amazing. … We just had to keep working through the weather, working through the day. Ryan and I were really strong. When he went out there at the end, I was thinking I didn’t really want to have to go out [again].”

Winning is all about an attitude of persistence and doing what others are not willing to do. This reminds me of the final line up in the cars Dee Tee Merc Car Wow, what a car this is!

This is a hats off to Helio for winning the BIG race!

CowParade goes to Europe

While Cow Parade art exhibits have been hosted in cities all around the world, one of the most creative displays to date was in London, England in 2002. London, a city rich in history, humor, and culture, was an ideal location for a creative Cow Parade public art project. Using a most unusual canvas–a fiberglass cow, local artists were able to express historical and cultural influences, ideas, and events unique to London and Europe. What were at first plain, unadorned fiberglass cows, resulted in an incredible display of painted bovine creations! Seen by millions of residents and tourists along the streets of England’s capital, in famous stores such as Harrods, and grazing in lush parks throughout the city, were a great variety of life-size decorated cow sculptures.

There are many cows in the line that are some of my favorites. You can find cows like Muuza that will surely get you excited if you are into pop art. Or Cowpatra if you are into Egyptian artwork. These cows are real pieces of art and they make excellent gifts or simply a real icebreaker in any crowd.

CowParade has become a very popular line because of its amazing artwork all over the World.

Are cows popular because of the CowParade art?

Cows have been an important part of farming over the centuries! But who would have thought the idea creators of CowParade could turn such an animal into a piece of art.

Well for about a decade now that is exactly what has happened. They have taken over cities all across the World. Cows on Parade! The first year that they took over a city it was Chicago (1999), then New York City (2000), London (2002), Tokyo (2003), and Brussels (2003). Dublin (2003), Prague (2004), and Stockholm (2004), Mexico City (2005), Sao Paulo (2005), Buenos Aires (2006), Boston (2006) Paris (2006), Milan (2007, and Istanbul (2007). This year they are making their debut in Madrid, Taipei and most recently in LaJolla!

They have recently released a New Herd 2009 for Winter 2009. I am sure you will have a favorite cow after you check out the new herd.

Maybe it will be Take It Easy or maybe you are all about true farming and the past, so your favorite is Barn Cow or better yet you are a real patriot and its Americow Either way, are you as much a cow enthusiasts as the best of the CowParade gang?

If you are interested in the line and would like to start your own Cow collection. Visit out parent site at Music City Cards and Gifts Type in Code BL15MC at check out. This is worth 15% discount just for visiting our blog!

Whats up with the excitement around the Trail of Painted Ponies?

I was talking to business associate the other day about the Trail of Painted Ponies collection. We were talking about the new edition to the herd. This conversation brought up a line of thinking about the herds popularity. So I posed the question, What is up with the excitement around the Trail of Painted Ponies?

So I spent some time online and asking a few of the Painted ponies enthusiasts, the why question.

Have you ever had a pet that changed your life. They showed you unconditional love when everyone else around you was judging you? Do you remember your first pony? I believe that the line simply brings up the emotion around your first pony. The life of yesteryear. It brings up back to the past. The good ole days.

So it caused me to reminisce again about my first pony. He stood 15 hands high and his name was Dutch. In the new line of ponies, it’s Petroglyph that reminds me most of Dutch. He was a brown and white paint quarter horse. So I am sure that I am not the odd duck in this one. The popularity is caused from the past!

I look at this new line up and I can’t help but have favorite. I am sure you have one that just grabs you! One that somehow brings up a memory or some kind of emotional attachment. For me, it’s Tribal Paint. It brings up so much of the past life with the 12 years of riding and showing horses. So I have to admit it is my F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E!

If you have a favorite among the new line up or even one of the retiree’s post a comment and let us know which one. This is a lot of fun! Also if you have any ideas on why the ponies are so popular we keep our minds open to ideas!

Also don’t forget to visit our parent site and enjoy a 15% discount site-wide just for visiting out blog! Music City Cards and Gifts When you check out simply type in coupon code : BL15MC

Keep riding! Until Next time!

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

In the Spring of 1995, I was invited to go work for 3 weeks in Houston, Texas.  I would be selling trick ropes to lil “cow”boys and “cow”girls.  I was told that I would be able to attend the Rodeo and Livestock show for 3 weeks and would make great money doing it.  So I jumped on the opportunity.

The 3 week event was life changing.  I had a lot of fun.  I got to go to the Rodeo every night.  I got to listen to many famous singers like Reba McEntire and “Selena” (less than a month later she was died) singing to sold out crowds.  When I think back to that experience there is one of the cows in the new CowParade line that really comes to mind Take it easy

It was a very intense experience yet truly amazing.  To be in attendance at the last concert of Selena.  It was a SOLD OUT concert.  I would never have attended any of her concerts otherwise and it was one of the best!  She was a real showman!

Every year Houston hosts “The Houston Livestock and Rodeo” and Cowboys and Cowgirls come from all around the Country to compete.  They would compete with their ponies in barrel racing, cowboys would rope cows in calf roping competition, and then there is the dangerous Bull riding competition.  Speaking of bull riding competitions,  there is one of the cows in the Cowparade line that reminds me of this competition Cow Gone Wild its a real wild cow!  I saw some real crazy competitions during that 3 week event.

So while in town for the event I could not help myself from heading over to the Cow barn for the Livestock show.  While at the show there were cows from all over.  There were Angus bulls, Holstein cows, Guernsey heifers and Jersey cows all lined up getting ready to show.  When I see the Jersey cows I think of the new cow in the Cowparade line called Barn Cow

If you ever get a chance to attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo don’t pass on the chance.  It will be a decision you won’t regret!  You will have a blast!  While in Houston check out the Cows on display. The Herd took over Houston in 2001!

Until Next time, don’t be too moooooving! :)

Spring is in the Air

As a kid I think there’s a time honored tradition of excitement around Spring.  It’s spring break.  It signals the sun and warmth are around the corner.  It signals new birth and new beginnings.  The grass begins to bud again.  The colors of flowers begin to take hold and spring up everywhere.  My favorite spring flower is the Tulip and its many ranges of color.

When I think of Spring, there is one pony that really stands out to me  Tip Toe through the Tulips Its all about the colors and wow does this pony stand out in the line.

The Spring season is the beginning of weekend trail rides.  In fact it reminds me of one such trail ride.  We went to “Blue and Gray” state park in Independence, MO.  The thing I liked best about trail rides was definitely all the amazing scenery.  The parks had rolling hills, meadows, creeks and sometimes lakes.  We could however always count on the fact that there would be plenty of woods to go galloping through.  Blue and Gray was one such park.  It was amazing for trail rides.  They had plenty of acres of woods, creeks and meadows.  I would say that Spring was the best time to go to Blue and Gray.  The colors were absolutely amazing!

There were Saturday nights by the camp fire and roasting marshmallows.  We might share ghost stories and just have a great time together.  When I think about the trail ride the weekend at Blue and Gray there is one pony that really jumps out at me.  It would be one of the new ponies Night Flower

Night Flower reminds me of the very clear night skies in Missouri, as you are laying out star watching.  So as you are out on your next spring weekend trail ride, think about what I shared with you today with my two favorite ponies in the line  Tip Toe through the Tulips and Night Flower.

Until Next time, ride fast and hard but don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers!

Its a snowy day!

It’s snowing outside and I got a few logs in the fireplace to keep the cabin warm.  Dutch is in the barn, my first horse.  He is a gorgeous brown and white paint quarter horse. He stands about 15 hands high and is 15 years old. I just got back in from feeding. This has really caused me to reminisce about a day very similar several years back.

I was about 15 and it was one of the biggest snows in the History of the area. It just continued to dump snow, we got about a foot of snow over a period of about a week. Now understand that was very unusual for Missouri. At 15, you really dread going and doing anything that resembles work, right? Ask any parent of a 15 year old. Well Dutch was counting on me to feed him. So I trampled out into the snow and headed to the barn. When there was this blast of arctic air! It nearly blew me over and I simply tucked my head and aimed straight for the barn. At that moment when Dutch came into sight in his stall it reminds me of the new painted pony called Tribal Paint. It was crazy windy and cold. The snow was blowing in my eyes and he was quite blurry from the outside weather. That’s what that pony reminds of when I see it.

Dutch has been an amazing companion over the years. We have nearly grown up together. He has an amazing loyalty and likewise I have the same for him. He was my original training horse for my 4-H years. Now he has been retired. Living out his final years just grazing the grass out on the prairie. There are many ponies that retire but how many have been captured in their essence In the retired ponies line? Not many is right!

So how many of you have fond memories of your first horse?  Or a simply one of your horses that have forever impacted your life?  Share them here!
